With these snapshots, you can choose to just click on an individual Snapshot, or you can drag through them and choose your desired sound to sit somewhere between them in the example below I have shown how you can assign the patch as somewhere between the Snapshot zones. When you choose a preset there will generally be 8 zones on the left hand pads, all named and given a distinct sound within the scope of the patch. The Simple view consists of the bottom of the browse screen, and if you click on ‘Simple’ in the menu, it will only show this view on the overall Alchemy screen. This is great fun to play around with, but again this is an intro, so we’ll go into more detail in another session. These create arpeggiated sequences completely aside from Logic Pro’s own arpeggiator. One thing to keep in mind as a cool feature of the Alchemy patches is the arpeggiated preset’s. This will bring up a keyboard on screen which you can play by using your laptop keyboard. If you have no keyboard attached, then press command, followed by K. If you click on one and have a keyboard attached, pressing any key will then play a sound from that preset. The final screen then provides us with 94 preset’s that meet that condition. It sub divides the sounds into categories, sub-categories, genre and timbre. The browse view is exactly what you would expect it to be, a browser for all of Alchemy’s patches. There’s also a menu next to the view selector that allows you to search through the patches as an alternative, but the browser does a better job of this so I would stick to that main selection view. It’s something to keep in mind though if you can’t work out why your track keeps buffering.Īlchemy contains three views as part of its interface: Browse, Simple and Advanced. However, if you have a newish Mac, and it’s plugged in, I’ve always found it perfectly fine running on ‘ultra’ while I’m producing.

You will obviously need this in order to make the most out of Alchemy, although using your own samples with it is pretty great too, but we’ll get into that in another video. In order to make use of Alchemy, you first need to ensure that you have gone into the Logic Pro X tab in the top left and downloaded the additional content labelled ‘ Alchemy Sound Libraries’.
